Program Description:

The Master in Teaching degree with emphasis in K-12 Special Education is designed for individuals who wish to pursue a rewarding career teaching students with disabilities. If you are a career changer or somebody who has already earned a bachelor's degree (or higher) in another subject but do not yet have a teaching certificate, this innovative program provides career transition into the specialized field of special ed teaching. The program is offered in a work friendly two year format which will prepare you teach in your own classroom faster than you thought possible. This program focuses on providing students with both field participation and academics. The course work is combined with classroom teaching in a comprehensive program that will prepare you for teaching in the real world.Upon successful completion of the program, you will have satisfied requirements for a Washington State Residency Teaching Certificate with an Endorsement for Special Education (K-12) and a M.I.T. Degree. The curriculum for the program meets Washington State Administrative Codes (WAC) for teacher preparation programs.
