Program Description:

The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Language Arts integrates pedagogy with the language arts disciplines. Building on introductory courses in learning theory, American society, and educational research, the specialty courses alert teachers to current theory and practice in several fundamental areas--reading and thinking about literature; the teaching of writing in various contexts and for differing purposes; and the structure and acquisition of language.
