Program Information

Degree Offered

M.S. - Physician Assistant

Program Description:

The CMU physician assistant program was established to provide physician assistants for central and northern Michigan. However, graduates of the program are not required to work in Michigan. Students may complete the curriculum in 27 months. The first 15 months are spent primarily on campus in classroom and laboratory instruction. The remaining 12 months consists of clinical rotations in various medical specialties. All rotations are conducted in central and northern Michigan, and an effort is made to place students in one location for the entire clinical year. During this year, students complete a clinical case project to fill the master's degree requirements of the program. The area of study is identified early in the first year, and the case study is due during the clinical year. The case study is completed in lieu of a master's thesis.
