Program Information
Degree Offered
MA in Counseling Psychology
Program Description:
This is one of the few programs in the world where you can concentrate in this specialty. Our foundational principle is that the arts have innate healing potential. The program draws on this by preparing students to integrate music, visual art, movement, poetry, and a range of other modalities into the psychotherapeutic relationship.
You learn to weave contemporary approaches to psychotherapy into practice through arts-based instructional methods as well as through a yearlong clinical practicum. We foster your personal sense of presence, compassion, and creativity as you train with individuals, couples, families, and groups, and develop your capacity to work sensitively across sociocultural differences.
Our graduates work domestically and internationally in an array of psychotherapeutic, healthcare, and other professional settings. The coursework meets the requirements for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist or as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, and for registration as an Expressive Arts Therapist.
