Program Information
Degree Offered
MA in Creative Inquiry, Interdisciplinary Arts
Format: Campus
Program Description:
How can other art forms and conversations with artists across disciplines enrich, expand, and enhance your work? This program attracts literary, visual, performing, and media artists, as well as those working in dual forms (such as writing/performing or writing/music) who are interested in exploring the ways that the arts nourish each other. You discover the values that guide your art, the heritages that influence it, and its purposes. The program allows you to develop a body of work, while enhancing your professional practices (such as teaching, community arts, workshops, or consulting). You identify possible careers and develop a substantial MFA project and professional portfolio—preparing you to engage the world and sustain a life as an artist. You work closely with faculty, mentors, and guest artists—all active artists—and complete this program through two full years of full-time coursework, accomplished entirely through weekend intensives (complemented by online study). Professional development includes courses in the business of art, teaching, community arts, arts administration, and publishing.
