Program Description:

The Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) program prepares nurse practitioners to practice primarily in acute care environments such as intensive care units, emergency departments and trauma centers however this practice is not limited to in-hospital settings.

The acute care focus of this program of study is different than a primary care focus and allows the graduate to be eligible for the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) national certification examination. Core concepts include emphasis on genetics, pathophysiology, advanced health assessment, differential diagnosis, developmental, cultural, and family care. Additional advanced skills are taught through a variety of simulated and clinical environments required for competence in a critical care environment.

Modality

The Adult ACNP program is delivered using a blend of: eight, 2-4 day immersion sessions at the Irvine campus; internships/clinical practice in hospitals, clinics and health centers near your home or work; and online lectures, demonstrations and exercises.
