Degree Offered
M.A.;, Ph.D.
Program Description:
The Program in Applied Linguistics Program at Boston University provides a solid foundation in linguistic theory combined with an applied orientation. Faculty and graduate student research spans a wide variety of interests in linguistic theory and practice. This program is especially appropriate to students whose primary interest is in first language acquisition and development, language disorders, second language acquisition and the teaching of foreign languages (including English as a second language) or discourse studies. Students apply knowledge about linguistic theory and about the biological, social, and cognitive factors that affect language development and use to some particular area of study. In addition to the Ph.D. Program, we now also offer a Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics.
