The purpose of the M.A.T. Degree program is to serve college graduates from fields other than education who have the capability and commitment to prepare for a successful career in public school teaching. Candidates who successfully complete this program will be licensed at the Master's level to teach in the public and private schools of Tennessee. Due to licensing requirements, the M.A.T. is a more involved program, consisting of general background requirements, teaching major requirements, and the professional education block for the student's teaching area.
