Program Description:

Studies in the Department encourage critical thinking, and serve as a basis for advanced studies in the M.A. and Ph.D. programs. One of our purposes is to offer our students a venue where they will become true "Citizens of the Middle East", through intimate knowledge of the region's cultures, history and languages. Each year the Department offers a special course in a neighboring country. The course in 1996 was held in Egypt. This year's course in Istanbul, Turkey is scheduled to take place in April.
