Program Description:
The graduate program in Counseling Psychology integrates science with practice to prepare highly qualified mental health counselors for work in mental health centers, college counseling centers, and private practice. Graduates of the program will be able to work in Student Affairs and Activities on university campuses and in rehabilitation settings, as well as with human resources in industry. The emphasis of the program is on ethical, evidence based practice with 700 hours of practicum and internship in community based agencies. Students will meet licensing requirements for the MN Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor as well as national mental health counseling licensure. The program may also be used by students as preparation for further graduate work in psychology, or to refresh clinical skills and knowledge as needed to seek more demanding occupations.

As stated above, it is very helpful for applicants to have undergrad statistics and measurement courses. But they are not required.

International Students have to meet the TOEFL requirements of Bemidji State University and the course requirements. We have had very good international students, who have already been enrolled at BSU during their senior year and know the demands of the Psychology Department.
