Program Information
Degree Offered
M.S. - Applied Information Technology
Format: Campus
Program Description:
The Master of Science in Applied Information Technology (MAIT) program at Bellarmine University has three tracks, which allow students to specialize in corporate IT, security, or web development. Within each track there are three principle thematic areas:
* Information technology foundations and tools (technical emphasis)
* Systems engineering and project management (administrative emphasis)
* Individual, group and organization success factors (communication skills emphasis)
The MAIT is an accelerated program lasting 16 months, with evening classes on our Highlands campus two nights per week, making it easy for working students to complete. Previous computer technology experience is not required (there is one prerequisite course for students without this background). A custom schedule can be created for students who need more time to complete the program.
The program uses a cohort model to enhance student teamwork, collaboration and communication skills. A capstone project provides students with real-world experience dealing with a local company. Some internships are available, providing real-world experience for those not already employed in an IT setting. The program is reviewed annually by an advisory board drawn from leading businesses in the community, such as UPS, GE, Yum! Brands, Coca-Cola, Brown-Forman, Kindred Health Care and Republic Bank.
Upon completion of the MAIT program, graduates will have:
* the technical knowledge and skills to prepare for a career in IT
* the ability to effectively and efficiently apply information technology
* sensitivity to the challenges and effects of globalization on a local organization’s planning and operations
* the oral and written communication skills to articulate their positions on a wide range of technically oriented issues affecting their employers
* the skills to perform in team environments, resolve conflicts, motivate others, establish team goals and provide direction
The MAIT program is affordable, with competitively priced tuition. Many employers offer tuition reimbursement plans, and other financial aid may be available.
