The Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology was created in late 1999 by a merger of the Division of Molecular Virology and portions of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Our mission is to accomplish significant research, provide high-quality graduate and postgraduate programs, and serve as an institutional resource on microbial agents and infectious diseases.The Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology offers a program leading to the Ph.D. degree, with specialization in molecular virology or molecular microbiology.
