Program Description:

This program is active in a wide variety of externally funded research, with particular strengths inthe areas of adaptive materials (sensors and actuators), composite materials (withpolymeric, metallic and ceramic matrices) and high temperature materials (intermetalliccompounds, superalloys, refractory metals and ceramics). Adaptive materials and smartsystems are the focus of the Materials Research and Education Center (MREC), whichwas established in 1994.
