Degree Offered
M.A. - Whole Systems Design
Program Description:
The M.A. in Whole Systems Design is a field of academic inquiry incorporating a unique synthesis of system and design traditions. Students who value self-designed studies and lifelong learning are challenged to think systematically, operate holistically, and design creatively. Course work includes designing and leading whole systems change, personal and organizational transformation and intervention theory. Students work as consultant, trainers, writers and artists and come from major corporations, government, nonprofit organizations, and as self-employed professionals. Two options are offered: Organization System Renewal (OSR) and Individualized Study. The OSR program is designed for those involved in facilitation or organizational change, whether manager, internal or external consultants, or individuals in leadership roles. There are two OSR programs, one in the Seattle area and one in the midwest. In the Individualized Study Program, students set their own degree focus and learning goals, combining individual interests with program requirements and may concentrate on a theoretical or application level or a combination of both.
