Program Description:
The MA in Clinical Psychology/Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program is a professional course of study that prepares students for clinical practice and/or doctoral study and for licensure in California. It meets or exceeds the requirements established by the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) for academic preparation for licensure.
The Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology is designed to meet the following objectives:
Prepare students for MFT licensure in California and for doctoral study in psychology
Develop eclectically trained practitioners who are sensitive to issues of diversity, including gender, class, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, and disability
Promote students' personal growth and development
Provide practical clinical experience in highly varied, community-based mental health settings
Challenge the profession toward greater relevance to the needs of Southern California's diverse communities
Within the program students have the option of specializing in Child Studies, Applied Community Psychology or our new LGBT Psychology. Learners may also design their own specialization, specific to their individual interests and goals.
