Program Description:
The PhD in Religious Education prepares men and women to
be scholars, teachers and researchers in specialized teaching and discipling ministries of the Church. All candidates further develop the core competencies of a religious educator and select an area of specialization for intense study and research using research methodologies of the social sciences.

• Christian formation and discipleship
• Theological curriculum and instruction
Graduates with a PhD in Religious Education are prepared to
serve the church in teaching and leadership ministries focused
on the family, the church, or the school and to investigate
contemporary religious education issues using social sciences
research methodologies.
Eligibility Requirements:
-Recommendations: Adviser/teacher in applicant's MA ir MDiv Program, Teacher in applicant's MA or MDIV program, and administrator of applicant's employing organization or most recent employer if not currently employed.
-Statement of purpose-600 words.
International Student Requirements:
If English is not the first language and/or not the language of instruction in secondary and post-secondary study,a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test or 213 in the computer based test, or a MELAB score of 80, is required.
