Program Description:

The PhD: Religion program builds on expertise and training developed in approved master's programs. It provides individuals equipped with skills and methods appropriate to genuine scholarship to do original and responsible research, and it promotes the proficient application of sound and valid principles of biblical interpretation and historic research.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Show high promise of future usefulness to church and society.
• Complete and return the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire as directed.
• Depending upon the applicant's academic background, the PhD Committee may also require proficiency examination(s)
before granting admission to the doctoral program.

• Statement of purpose - 600 words
• Recommendations: Adviser/teacher in applicant's MA or MDiv program, teacher in applicant's MA or MDiv program, and church administrator of applicant's employing organization

International Student Requirements:

If English is not the first language and/or not the language of instruction in secondary and post-secondary study,a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test or 213 in the computer based test, or a MELAB score of 80, is required.
