Program Description:
The Master of Arts degree in Sociology at American University emphasizes sociological theory, social research, and the following areas of concentration: Gender and Family; Macrosociology; Social Stratification; Labor; and Applied Sociology. Graduates from the program refine their skills in statistical analysis, questionnaire development and design, and social policy analysis.
The Graduate Certificate in Social Research provides students with the knowledge and experience to participate in building equitable, humane, and sustainable institutions. Course work stresses social justice and the application of professional research skills to inform effective policies and programs for social change.
