Program Description:

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE: The Master of Science in Environmental Science at American University provides professional training for working in the complex environmental field. The program of study is multidisciplinary, reflecting an extensive collaboration among academic departments and major teaching units of the university. After initial grounding in core courses in environmental science and statistics, students concentrate in toxicology, conservation biology, earth and atmospheric science, or environmental assessment.
The program of study accommodates the training needs of established professionals in the environmental field as well as recent college graduates. It can serve as a terminal degree in itself or as a stepping stone for further graduate work toward a Ph.D. in environmental science or a related discipline.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT CERTIFICATE: The environmental assessment certificate program provides in-depth training in the skills courses that are most important for today's environmental professional, including risk assessment, geographic information systems (GIS), and toxicology.
