Degree Offered

DVM Pre-clinical Program

Format: Campus

Program Description:

This program provides a solid foundation in pre-clinical veterinary sciences. Upon completion, students have the opportunity to transfer to one of AUA’s partner veterinary institutions where they can earn a DVM degree. The Pre-clinical program is designed for students who have completed the prerequisite courses. AUA requires a minimum of 90 college credits and a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

The Pre-clinical semesters consist of classroom instruction and the application of "Pre-clinical-to-clinical" veterinary medicine. Students attend teaching rounds at reputable private veterinary clinics where they learn the fundamentals of general and specific animal handling and restraining methods, procedures for professional clinical examination of animal patients, general introduction to equipment utilized for different examinations and rudimentary veterinary economics needed for veterinary management. Throughout the program, students participate in problem-based Veterinary Medicine and experience a multidisciplinary approach to veterinary medicine.

Accreditation:

"There are only 28 accredited veterinary colleges in the United States. We decided to establish the AUA College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) after talking with Virginia Tech,” said Neal Simon, AUA’s president and co-founder. “By teaming with Virginia Tech, one of the best veterinary colleges in the country, AUA has established a new model for earning a degree in veterinary medicine.”
