Program Description:

As the public sector contracts and social service and other organizations crop up to fill needs once met by governmental agencies, a tremendous demand has arisen for well-trained managers in the non-profit sector. The AJU's Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program is specifically designed to meet this growing need by training professionals for middle and upper management positions in cultural, educational, religious, social service and health care organizations. The MBA Nonprofit Management Program at American Jewish University affords working professionals the opportunity of earning an MBA while maintaining employment. With classes conveniently held in the late afternoon and at night, students are exposed to a challenging curriculum that teaches them the business and leadership aspects of managing a nonprofit enterprise. Students experience a rich cross-pollination of thought and practice, learning from both nonprofit practitioners and as well as students who bring a myriad of perspectives into the classroom. Our experienced faculty provides current information and practical analysis of some of today's most challenging situations facing executive leaders and provides thoughtful effective solutions.
Our two year 58-unit program is the only West Coast campus-based MBA Program in Nonprofit Management. We deliver our courses using practicum-based methods--- Learn it today; apply it tomorrow.

Working professionals experience opportunities for professional growth and networking with top leaders in the nonprofit sector through our unique Colloquium Series. This speaker's series features distinctive presenters who address current trends and discuss best practices, while offering students the opportunity to engage in professional networking. Executives from philanthropic, business, and civic organizations often populate the Colloquium series. Dr. Robert Ross, President and CEO of The California Endowment, Paul Vandeventer, President and CEO, Community Partners, and Ira Schreck, Principal, of Schreck and Associates, a senior-level fund development firm recently participated with Ira speaking on the timely topic of “Fundraising in Challenging Economic Times."

Students have access to highly visible faculty who are executive leaders, often leading to successful job advancement and placement. Our alumni have obtained positions with well-known institutions such as the Getty Museum, City of Hope, USC Center for Philanthropy and Public Policy, Los Philharmonic, the Jewish Federation, and others securing leadership positions in fund development, financial management, and program management as well as top administrative positions with colleges and universities nationwide.

This nonsectarian program is open to qualified students without regard to race, religion, gender, national origin or physical disability. The program is well suited for those hoping to enter the field after completing an undergraduate degree, those working in the nonprofit sector who wants to develop the management skills to advance their careers; and for professionals who are interested in changing careers.

Eligibility Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; a recommended GPA of 3.0; submit GRE or GMAT scores; two letters of recommendation, four essay questions, and a personal interview.
