Program Description:
The Academy of Art University's School of Fashion combines European artisanship with New York industry savvy, California freshness with modern American technology. You'll learn fashion design basics and develop your own fashion career with designers and merchandisers from fashion houses like Versace, Calvin Klein, Givenchy and Alexander McQueen.
Graduate students are guided through directed study, culminating in a final project -production of a professional fashion collection and portfolio or a merchandising project. Selected collections are chosen to be part of the Academy’s Annual Fashion Show. The Academy of Art University’s Fashion Show is internationally renowned. The CEO of Burberry, Oscar de la Renta, Alexander McQueen, Loulou de la Falaise, and Zac Posen have attended previous fashion shows and have taken students as interns.
Additionally, the Academy is the only school invited to participate in New York Fashion Week in Bryant Park.
Established in 1929, the university offers accredited AA, BFA, BA, M.Arch, MA and MFA programs in 14 areas of art and design emphasis. Students can also enroll in a flexible online degree program.
