The field of School Psychology School psychologists play a direct and vital role in both the successful functioning of schools as well as in the lives of the students who study in them. In the first role, school psychologists work with teachers and administrators to maximize the efficacy of their work when it comes to dealing with students and the educational institution in which they work. In the second role, they work directly with students and often with their parents and teachers as well in order to provide psychological counseling when necessary, evaluate the effect of certain psychological traumas like the death of another student, and using standardized tests to evaluate the nature of a certain student's academic abilities. School psychologists are trained in both education and in psychology , and as such, they are generally highly motivated, caring individuals who work to make the educational experience as pleasant and as successful as possible for everyone involved.
