About the field of Nursing Administration: Nursing Administration integrates the knowledge of both nursing and business management. It involves establishing the cost of nursing care, examining the relationship between nursing services and quality patient care, and resource and financial management. Students will look at nursing service delivery problems in the context of policy analysis. They will study health care systems, business issues and management accountability, and their impact on nursing care delivery. Other topics of study may include health care law and policy, medical personnel management, managed care operations, cultural competency, and data management and analysis. Graduates can enter careers as chief nursing officers, chief clinical officers, directors of nursing, directors of nursing education, nursing supervisors and more.
