About the field of Criminology: Criminology deals with the study of crime and the issues, theories, and research related to that area. Specifically study involves the making and breaking of laws, and society's response to law breaking. Criminology studies frequently overlap with studies of the Criminal Justice system as the issue of crime is closely related to the systems in place for dealing with and preventing it. Other closely related fields may include Sociology , Social Work , and Population Studies . A more hands-on aspect of criminology would be the study of Criminalistics , otherwise known as Forensic Science .
