MA - Sports and Athletic Administration, MS - Fitness and Wellness Management, MS - Sports Performance and Coaching
The University of Western States exercise and sports science (ESS) master’s degree program is regionally accredited and prepares graduates to provide expert education, guidance and services as leaders in sport, exercise and wellness disciplines. Taught by world-class faculty with extensive athletic industry experience, our evidence-informed curriculum is comprehensive and preparesstudents with first-hand knowledge needed to succeed in this diverse field.
Each student begins their ESS studies with core courses that cover aspects of each of the three concentrations offered at UWS. After students finish these shared “core” classes they then choose their concentration, taking classes specifically geared toward their desired specializations.
Concentration opportunities include:
MS in Fitness and Wellness Management
MA in Sport and Athletic Administration
MS in Sports Performance and Coaching Science
For students who are already at a master’s level or are simply interested in more focused coursework within the wellness realm, UWS offers a certificate of advanced study program in wellness coaching. Both the master's and certificate program are 100 percent online which allows students to get a degree or certificate at their own pace.
UWS has cultivated several key partnerships that directly benefit our ESS students, namely our partnership with National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). This collaboration allows our graduates to sit for several NASM exams at a lower cost, bypassing the lengthy prep course requirements.
