This online graduate certificate program is for K-16 teachers who wish to enhance their teaching of writing in middle schools and high schools, community colleges, and elementary school settings. In addition to exploring cutting edge research, best practices in writing instruction, and the use of new technologies, this online program will show teachers how to prepare learners for college writing and meet new guidelines for the teaching of writing intensive courses recently established by the Illinois State Board of Education. This online graduate certificate program consists of three online courses, spread out over one academic year: Studies in Composition Theory (Summer Term); Using Technology to Teach Writing Across the Curriculum (Fall Term); Teaching Writing Intensive Courses (Spring Term).
