The Department of Art offers an advanced degree emphasizing studio performance. The MFA program prepares practicing artists for careers in painting, printmaking, sculpture, metals, and ceramics. This program requires a minimum of two years of full-time graduate study and conforms with the recommendations of the College Art Association for the preparation of college-level studio faculty. In addition to fulfilling the required number of hours, the students must successfully pass periodic reviews by members of the Department of Art faculty. Also, the student's major professor must attest to the candidate's competence in the area of specialization.
