The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is a graduate program for individuals who hold a baccalaureate degree in the liberal arts or sciences and wish to enter the teaching profession. This program provides an efficient path to state teacher licensure. Classes are scheduled for the convenience of students who combine the rigors of study with the demands of work and family.
Degree candidates must successfully complete a minimum of 36 credits of which:
9 credits may be taken in graduate courses within the department of the chosen teaching field
3 credits are required for EDUC6584 - Computers As a Teacher's Aid: Curriculum & Instruction
2 credits are required as a EDUC7812- Final Project: Applied Research
22 credits are taken in courses required by the New Jersey Administrative Code for teacher certification
