MS Nurse Practitioner, Primary Care- Adult, Family or Pediatric
Nurse practitioners provide primary care across the life span through direct nursing care, consultation, collaboration, coordination, and referral. These health care services are provided in a variety of settings including neighborhood centers, private practices, school-based clinics, and in the home. This specialization has two tracks that prepare adult/older adult and family nurse practitioners to provide quality primary care. In addition to the traditional Masters Primary Care Nursing program, we offer a Certified Nurse Practitioner's Master's Completion Program, and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in both tracks. Upon completion of the primary care program, graduates are eligible to sit for all national certification exams in their area of practice.
The Master of Science with a specialization in Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) prepares nurses with the specialized skills needed to care for children living in urban settings who are at risk across the continuum of care. For nearly two decades our PNP program has prepared Primary Care PNPs to provide community-based, culturally-sensitive care. More recently, building on our foundation in evidence-based, interdisciplinary, urban healthcare, we expanded the PNP program into Acute Care. We are the only graduate nursing program in New England to prepare Acute Care PNPs. Students may study either full-time or part-time. A BSN/MS in Nursing is available for RNs with an associate degree or diploma. Nurses who possess an MS degree in Nursing are eligible for the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in this specialization.
