Students in the MFA program will be prepared to place, sell, and/or produce their work in the film and television industry. The program is small yet vigorous and nurturing. Our motto: writers write.
Our students are required to write, at minimum: two feature-length screenplays, two short scripts, one spec episode of an existing dramatic series for television, one spec episode of an existing sitcom series for television, and one original television pilot.
An optional fifth post-graduate semester in Los Angeles is aimed at providing the students with invaluable experience in the business of film and the opportunity to work with established writers on TV staffs or in agencies and development departments.
Boston University is accredited through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc., one of six nationally recognized accrediting agencies.
International Student Requirements:
In addition to the application requirements, international students must submit a TOEFL or IELTS exam (minimum score of 100 or 7.0) and an international student video.
