In 1991 the FNP Program affiliated with California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) to provide a Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) option for FNP students who possess a Bachelor's Degree (Bachelor of Science in Nursing [BSN] degree preferred). The National League for Nursing accredits the Master's program through CSUS. FNP and PA students attend classes together at one of two teaching sites, Sacramento or Fresno. They obtain their clinical training in their home communities and travel to the satellite class sites for didactic sessions.
A UCD FNP applicant must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of California. A BSN degree is not required for admission to the FNP Conventional Track; however, at least two years of clinical experience with considerable independent responsibility is required
