MA in Counseling Psychology, Certificate - Integral Health Education
Founded in 1973, ICP was the first transpersonally-oriented, East-West psychology graduate program in the world. This program is experiential, culturally sensitive, and centered on the inner work necessary for becoming a healer.
The ICP program was designed to include all of the educational requirements for a master's degree program as mandated by the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). Students who complete this program are eligible to apply for a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) intern number in the state of California. Students may also elect to take additional coursework to gain eligibility for the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license in California.
Drawing upon the major spiritual traditions of the East and West, recent cultural and social sciences research, and the innovations made by contemporary psychoanalytic, humanistic, systemic and transpersonal psychologies, we view psychological healing and growth within the larger context of spiritual unfolding. Integral education is not "neck up". It is demanding on every level: body, heart, mind, spirit.
Not only is CIIS one of the largest educators of MFTs, but CIIS is also the leader in pass rates among larger schools in California.
CIIS examinees' pass rate was 92% (Standard exam), compared with 65% pass rate for all schools in California, according to the 2015 report by the The Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
On the Clinical Vignettes exam, CIIS pass rate was 94%, compared with 84% of California schools overall.
The pass rates are a clear and consistent indicator of how successful CIIS students are post-graduation and the quality of integral education.
Students can choose to pursue this program in residential weekday or weekend classes.
