This doctoral program is the only accredited PhD program in human sexuality on the West Coast.
It offers coursework and mentorship to support student teaching, research, publication, policy projects and creative endeavors. This program aims to enhance sexual literacy of future leaders in this interdisciplinary and dynamic field. Sexuality and gender are embraced in the most diverse and fluid spectrums, including: intersectionality of all dimensions - the conversation is both inclusive and transformative.
The PhD program in Human Sexuality (HSX) draws a variety of professionals interested in studying varying aspects of sexualities from the lenses of desire, intimacy, identity, gender, cultural influences, power and stigma, sexual response and reproduction.
The doctoral program is designed to prepare students to be the next generation of thought leaders with critical knowledge on sexuality, research and analysis skills, a diverse theoretical background and professional skills.
This hybrid program (partially in-person and online) consists of two years of coursework, a 90-hour internship, comprehensive exams, and a dissertation (4-year estimated completion).
