This course seeks to provide the opportunity to investigate the history of London's architecture, and thus the history of architecture over the last five hundred years, to explore the economic, social and cultural reasons why London has developed as it has, and to contemplate how contemporary influences are continuing to impinge on the city. The subject of the course will be London's architecture and its material culture, and full use will be made of the wide range of sources available in the archives, libraries and collections of London as well as in the built fabric of the city.
