The MA is an interdisciplinary degree that offers a wide choice of courses offered by different departments in the fields of arts, humanities and social sciences. Given the nature of the university’s expertise, many of these modules focus on Wales, but some look at Ireland, Scotland, or other Celtic countries and others are fully comparative. There is also the option of taking Welsh language modules.
Swansea University has excellent research resources for graduate study in the area of Modern Celtic Studies. In addition to the general holding in the University library it also holds the South Wales Coalfield Collection, the South Wales Miners’ Coalfield Collection, the South Wales Miners’ Library and the Richard Burton Archive. The University works closely with the National Galleries and museums of Wales. The national Library of Wales, at Aberystwyth, is within traveling distance. There is a graduate common room and an electronic resources room available in the James Callaghan Building.
