The MA in 20th- and 21st-Century Literature will enable you to explore the complex cultural histories of literatures in English - national, minority, dissident, and diasporic - from the twentieth century to the present, and offers advanced training in the combined uses of close textual study, history, and theory. Individual modules trace the paradoxes of modernity within the intersecting discourses of aesthetics, education, ethnicity, nationalism, legality, science, sexuality, and urbanization.
The MA in 20th- and 21st-century Literature is a specialist programme that allows you to focus in literature, culture and thought in the long twentieth century. The programme is linked to the Centre for Contemporary Writing at the University of Southampton (Centre for Contemporary Writing).
