Most business schools offer an MSc in Finance. Few offer an MSc with such a strong investment component. A powerful blend of academic rigour and vocational insight, the MSc in Finance and Investment will add considerably to the knowledge of those looking to further their career in this vital sector. The MSc is ranked 30th in the world by the Financial TImes (2015).
This programme aims to provide students with a specialist education in finance and investment. It will give a global perspective on investment markets and asset classes, provide practical knowledge on the processes and mechanics underlying investment, and build on students' existing numerical skills so that they are able to understand and practice investment-related mathematics.
The School’s location in the UK’s 2nd largest financial centre allows us to attract visiting speakers from the key financial institutions, fund managers and analysts. Students are able to interact with leading figures from major companies; this is particularly evident in the dissertation, which offers an invaluable opportunity to collaborate on a topic that has real, of-the-minute industry relevance.
Previous graduates have enjoyed successful careers with global investment banks, consultancy firms and investment companies. Leading names rate our MSc, and graduates have secured positions with firms including:
AEGON, Goldman Sachs, Ernst & Young, Societe Generale, Morgan Stanley, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Barclays.
As one of Europe’s leading financial centres, Edinburgh uniquely combines a dynamic business community with its status as World Heritage site. Located in the heart of Edinburgh, the Business School is perfectly placed to engage with the local, national and international business community. The Business School itself also benefits from a very diverse student intake in particular its MSc programmes with 58 nationalities represented in 2014/15. This adds to the learning experience and also gives students the added benefit of a global alumni network.
Throughout the year we hold a number of webinars for potential students. On the 9th December 2015 we will be holding a specific webinar about our Finance Programmes.
