The MA in Creative Writing Practice is an innovative MA which will seek to support and enable the use of creative writing as a tool for examining thoughts and ideas in relation to self, identity, place and community. It will provide the necessary skills for graduates to facilitate writing groups in a diverse range of group settings and specific communities.
Taught by practising writers, it will allow the opportunity to work in a Masters group over an extended period, on a collection of short stories, a novel, and performance pieces. There will be an expectation that students will write both in class and at home every week and feedback will be regularly given.
Taught by practising writers, the MA will encourage writing confidence, sensitivity to group and individual as well as an awareness of diverse skills and writing styles, using creative and constructive modes of writing. It will appeal to those who wish to use writing in their place of work, to improve their own creative writing or for those wishing to set up writing groups within the community.
