Who is the course aimed at?
It will appeal to students with a wide variety of backgrounds and interests; students who have been professional dancers and choreographers and those from a more traditional undergraduate background.
General programme information
The programme offers a rigorous, questioning approach to ballet study, and a mixture of theoretical and practical work in both teaching and modes of assessment.

develop critical understanding of ballet as an art form through an interdisciplinary framework
develop a critical awareness of ballet from the perspectives of performer, choreographer and observer/reader
develop an understanding of ballet from the generally recognized beginning of the form in the late sixteenth century to the present
develop students’ understanding of international perspectives
develop understanding through a mixture of studio work and traditional class-based study, thus allowing alternative modes of assessment
develop students’ understanding and skills in the use of research methods appropriate to ballet.
