This course goes beyond the study of EU institutions alone, also investigating politics in the member states, so that you can understand the relationship and interaction between them. It will enable you to have a complex understanding of political decision-making processes in Europe at all levels.
The Department of Politics and International Relations at Leicester has a long tradition of research-led teaching in the field of Politics in the EU. Several large multinational research projects are currently based in the department. We have also received a Jean Monnet grant from the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme to develop our teaching in this area and run additional activities for MA and research students.
This postgraduate degree has been designed to build on this experience. It blends theory and rich empirical material to offer insights into the functioning of political life in the EU that will assist you in a broad range of professions, including diplomacy, government bodies, international organisations, lobbying, teaching, journalism, the media and commerce and business.
