Mathematical Education is a discipline that combines the knowledge , skills and insights of many specialisms. This MSc program is designed to emphasise the relevance and applicability of Mathematical Education. It aims to acquaint teachers with recent trends and innovations and to encourage investigation, critical appraisal and development of both process and content. The program provides the opportunity for mathematics teachers and lecturers to re-examine their professional role in the current demanding changes in curricula, technology and society. At the same time the program includes work designed to establish firm foundations in aspects of mathematics and educational studies likely to be most useful for those working in secondary and tertiary education. Since 1973, when the program was first offered, ongoing discussions have been conducted with teachers to identify changing needs and the programme has been regularly updated to match these and to reflect new developments in Mathematical Education.
