The English Literary Studies MA programme allows you to specialise in a particular area of English Literature, choosing the modules that interest you the most. You'll be studying with acknowledged experts in the subject and will write a dissertation on the subject of your choice. Durham boasts one of the best English Departments in the country, offering the opportunity to study at the highest level in a beautiful environment.
This MA is sufficiently flexible to allow you to combine modules informally, focusing on areas you find most interesting. Possibilities might include: American literature; fiction and prose writing; literature, race and gender; genre studies; political and social contexts of literature.
During the programme, you will complete a core Research Methods and Resources module, undertake a dissertation and select three further modules of your choice.
