This interdisciplinary international programme is designed for social welfare professionals who want to apply a higher academic level to their practice. It is offered in English, enabling the participation of students from different countries. The Masters programme has been developed in close cooperation between DMU (UK) and Fontys Eindhoven (the Netherlands). Graduates from the programme are high-quality professionals who are analytically trained and able to deal creatively with complex situations. The programme is excellent preparation for employment in organisations developing into 'learning organisations'. These organisations offer more autonomy to workers at the basic level and expect staff to have analytical expertise in their professional teams. Additional career opportunities: Policy-making units of agencies, Research posts, Methodology development posts,Support functions within larger organisations. Other opportunities are in support agencies in the social domain (local, regional and national). The programme develops creative and innovative approaches to challenges in professional practice. The programme encourages critical reflection on professional knowledge and practices in the changing field of social welfare. Attention is given to the empowerment of disadvantaged groups and social policy. Furthermore, the programme develops skills in applied research and competence in the management of innovation (project management, information management).
