Need for Energy Systems The whole topic of energy is approached in its broadest sense, as research and development in this area overlaps considerably with several classical areas of the natural sciences and engineering. All these areas are covered by expertise from the various Institutes of the Research Center Jülich and by the specialist departments at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences, Juelich Campus. From fuel cells to nuclear technology, from solar architecture to biological energy processes, there are experts available to contribute to the education of interested young people from all over the world. In addition to the technical problems of energy conversion and energy efficiency, the general problems of the economics of world energy production, affordability, the relationship between energy and the environment and the sustainability of energy systems are covered.
