Tsinghua University in Beijing is the Institute’s home in Mainland China. A joint venture among Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Tsinghua University School of Economics & Management (Tsinghua SEM), and Tsinghua University Academy of Arts & Design (Tsinghua AAD) offers a full-time MA degree and professional courses and certificates that integrate graduate-level business and finance studies with specialized knowledge of art and its markets.
The master-level degree in Art Business offers those who are pursuing a career in the field of art collecting, business and management a unique opportunity to study selected art markets within major art centers in China and of the world: Beijing, New York and London. It highlights key principles in the art market and equips students with art market insights, knowledge of trends and management frameworks within the context of the global market. Led by top faculty and experts in the field, each module provides hands-on experience and real-world exposure to specialized markets, art knowledge and professional networks.
It offers privileged access to some of the world’s finest collections and works of art, as well as private visits to studios, galleries and other institutions that define much of today’s art activity. Alongside top practitioners in the world, the participants engage with the art and the market and have the opportunity to understand how institutions function from the inside out. Classes will be taught in Chinese and English. The modules will combine lectures, discussions/forums, practical sessions, visits to art institutions, coaching for overseas modules and writing the thesis, etc. Excellent students may have the opportunity to apply for scholarships jointly awarded by Tsinghua University and Sotheby's Institute of Art.
