The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) is offering two new graduate programs leading to the degrees of Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science. Both programs welcomed their first cohort of students in September 2009.
Program fields for the MSc/PhD in Computer Science include: Software Design, Networks and IT Security, Digital Media and Information Science. The objective of these programs is to produce a new breed of computer science graduates that have a broad background in information technology along with project management and people skills. Graduates will not only have strong technical expertise in their particular field, but will also have the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams and tackle problems that require both technical and non-technical solutions. MSc students will obtain their degree through successful completion of a thesis and specified course requirements. PhD students will obtain their degree through a combination of advanced course work and a PhD thesis.
