The biomedical sciences continue to be a strong sector of the scientific community, both locally and internationally. This trend will continue and probably intensify as new knowledge and technologies further impact on the potential for scientific breakthroughs that will ultimately result in novel methods of health care. Therefore, the demand for highly trained professionals in the biomedical field will continue to grow.
The Faculty of Medicine offers a Master of Biomedical Science (MBiomedSc) program for students enthusiastic about undertaking postgraduate research in the biomedical sciences. The MBiomedSc is a research degree for which candidates are required to submit a major thesis for examination. The thesis should embody the results of an investigation carried out by the candidate, under supervision, which shows independence of thought and which demonstrates the candidate's ability to carry out research in that discipline.
