Unlike a conventional university course, at Christie’s Education, we study art from inside the art world. We provide an exclusive and intimate learning environment that privileges the study of works of art at first hand; from behind the scene study sessions in the auction house warehouse, to visits to museums, galleries, artist’s studios and private collections. Students are trained to inspect and handle a wide variety of fine and decorative art objects, investigating their materials and techniques and exploring issues of interpretation and value. Through a rigorous academic curriculum which takes advantage of the artistic richness of each of these major art centres, students focus not only on art history but more specifically on connoisseurship and on the history of the art market.
