The University of Massachusetts Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) is located at the university's Medical School in Worester, Massachusetts. The GSBS comprises 3 divisions (Basic & Biomedical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, and Clinical & Population Health research) and 10 programs of PhD study. There are more than 400 PhD candidates and 300 faculty members. The school boasts an exceptionally accomplished faculty, including National Academy of Science members, Howard Hughes investigators, and a 2006 Nobel Prize winner, who are conducting research with direct relevance to human disease. All admitted students receive tuition and fees waivers, an annual stipend, and health and dental insurance.
